ADVISOR
Peter Bazalgette
With a CV that boasts an extensive list of senior positions, Sir Peter is arguably this country’s most experienced Arts and Media administrator:
- Co-chair of the Creative Industries Council
- Chair of Council, Royal College of Art
- Senior independent director on the board of Saga
- Non-exec board member at the Department of Education
- Chairman of LoveCrafts
- Former chair of ITV & Arts Council England and Royal Television Society President
Professional experience
To say Peter is well-versed in the creative industries of this country is rather like saying Adele has a way with a hit record. He skilfully parlayed his era-defining TV success (Big Brother, Ready Steady Cook, Changing Rooms, Ground Force) into senior positions both in television (chair of ITV, board member of C4) and the wider world of the arts (chair of Arts Council England, non-executive director of DCMS). Having just turned 70, his appetite for creative and commercial enterprises remains undimmed.
He is currently co-chair of the Creative Industries Council where he vigorously facilitates British creativity both in the UK and abroad. He also advises the Department of Education and is a key figure at Royal College of Art. His involvement with Edge fits perfectly into his creative portfolio and the value he adds to our enterprise is self-evident.
Beyond the office
He’s currently Chair of the Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction. He previously served as Chair of English National Opera. He was also President of the Crossness Engines Trust, which was set up in 1987 to restore the engines, pivotal to London’s original sewerage system, masterminded by Sir Peter’s great-great-grandfather, Sir Joseph Bazalgette.
