Scotland Investment Reception

19 January 2026

Edge’s CEO David Glick attended the Scottish Investment Reception at Holyrood Palace and had a direct conversation with His Majesty King Charles III that captured everything Edge stands for. The Reception was held to celebrate the role of venture capital and entrepreneurship in Scotland’s economy, hosted by the First Minister of Scotland, John Swinney MSP, and His Majesty King Charles III.

His Majesty emphasized the urgent need to invest in more creative businesses and educate young people in creative entrepreneurship. David’s response: “Your Majesty, our education is excellent, but our investment is falling behind. We are ambitious and determined to make the UK a centre for innovation – a leader in creative businesses to rival Silicon Valley or the Israeli startup ecosystem.”

The message was clear: creativity is not a luxury, but a strategic asset. The UK has the talent and cultural infrastructure to lead, but only if we back it with capital and conviction.

Days later, David joined leaders at the British Business Bank’s Investment Forum, where momentum is building around defence and dual-use technologies—a space where creative problem-solving meets national capability. The appetite for strategic, high-impact investment is growing.
